Business Bullshit Artists
As an author, speaker, consultant, business owner, and longtime salesman, I've seen my share of characters, and more than my share of bullshit.
I'm on a lot of marketing e-mail lists, and most that come from the so-called "gurus" are bullshit.
To make matters worse, the ones that come from authority sources - the "experts" - are REALLY full of bullshit. Here are some examples of calling out bullshit where I see it:
Branding is bullshit. I'm tired of hearing the word "branding" thrown around so casually. Who can even define what it means? Ask anyone in business - from an entry-level executive all the way up to one of the gooroos - and you'll be lucky to find one person in a month who can tell you exactly what branding is supposed to mean. But, even though they can't define it, they'll continue to tell you how important branding is, and how you'd better keep up your brand!
Social Media is bullshit. I know I'm going to ruffle a lot of feathers with this one, but several years into the social media craze, I'm gradually coming to the conclusion that social media is bullshit. As far as I can tell, the only people who have made any real money with social media are - you guessed it - the gooroos who are selling books & courses on how to make money with social media!
Of course, if you ask the "experts," they'll readily confess that no one has made a dollar from social media, but that's it's supremely important for branding purposes. Uh-huh....
One exception: If you're in sales, you need to be using LinkedIn. But that's not even within the realm of what the "branding" experts refer to as social media, such as Facebook and Twitter.
Cold calling is bullshit. I've been ranting against cold calling for over nine years now, but I can't say it enough: Cold calling is bullshit. Cold calling sucks. Cold calling doesn't work. So why are you still doing it? Salespeople & managers will blindly chant, "cold calling works," which is about as valuable a statement as the worthless marketing executives who say that "social media is important for 'branding.'"
Ok, that's my rant for today. I'm off to record the new episode of my cold calling podcast to put an end to this nonsense once and for all!

Interesting view man. I think you have a point but most would still consider to opt in for those kind of things.
