It looks like 2007 is setting a new record for murders in Scottsdale. A big thanks goes to Manross and her corrupt city council for ordering the cops to sit on corners with radar guns, and for spending money on photo radar equipment instead of hiring cops.
Thats Phoenix for you. All the time:
PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are investigating the shooting death of a 10-year-old girl left home alone on Wednesday at the family's home near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road.
Officers said the mother returned home, found the girl unresponsive, then noticed she had been shot.
The girl was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police are not yet saying where she was shot, if the wound was self-inflicted, or if the weapon was found in the home.
When it appeared the girl's mother was leaving the area, police promptly escorted her to the back of a patrol car.
Soon after, the father was taken in a separate police car.
David Navejar, 12, and his sister Suzzette, 16, told CBS 5 News they knew the victim well. They said she was caught in the middle of her parents' bitter divorce.
Officers said the shooting remains under investigation

I actually have a lot to say on this topic Frank. There are many directions one can go with it. In regards to the police in this valley rape and murder seem to be the only crimes you can get any action out of them on. Its because there would be so much public outcry if they responded how they do about all other crimes. Anytime I have wanted police assistance in this valley here is what I have been told. " We dont have the resources to do that", or " Its your word against their's". My personal experience with the police here has brought me to the conclusion that they are only interested in crimes that generate revenue. Also they are not here to help you only punish you. This current crop of 20 somethings on steroids with buzz cuts in my opinion go out of their way to provoke and escalate situations in many instances. They dont know how to speak to the public and have no concept of serve and protect. Its more about fining and ticketing. When it comes to your safety in this community your on your own.
As far as the two stories go on bankruptcy and the murder rate I think they go hand in hand. People go crazy when they lose their money or in some cases everything. In this recent real estate boom and bust cycle I am sure there were victims who really couldn't afford a house that bought one and lost their entire savings in the process. We all know there were rubes who got taken advantage of by real estate agents and mortgage brokers just out for a commission. Poverty breeds violence. Which brings me to another point: Illegal aliens. We are not getting Mexico's best and brightest here. We are getting their refuse. The media can say what they will about what hard working family people they are or their rich rich heritage I keep hearing about. These people create a hell of a lot of crime. I am tired of hearing people make excuses for them. Our county jail is filled with about 60% Mexican nationals. Another thing I find disturbing about this is when an illegal kills another illegal then runs back to Mexico we spend our resources looking for them. This is Mexico's problem not ours once they leave the country. I saw on an episode of the first 48 where not only did we send 2 detectives down into Mexico to look for the suspect we also paid to ship the victims body back to Mexico. If or when they catch the guy more of our resources are wasted having a trial then clothing and feeding the inmate for the rest of his life. All this for someone who was not even supposed to be in this country in the first place. Raising the price of this cheap cheap labor (I keep hearing about but never benefiting from) daily to the citizens of Arizona. At the southern border of Mexico they shoot undesirables sneaking into their country. However at their northern border they encourage their undesirables to sneak into ours.
I will bring this to a close by saying great neighborhoods, cities, states, and countries dont build great people. Its the other way around. Great people are what make great neighborhoods, cities, states, and countries. If you are starting to feel like I do that your neighborhood, city, state, and maybe even country is headed into the sewer importing more future welfare recipients and taxi drivers in the name of diversity isn't going to fix it. If we keep doing what were doing we are going to keep getting what we are getting. I expect more of the same and to be labeled negative and a racist by those who think the current state of affairs is bliss!!!

Two quick things:
This is a great blog, Maricopa County is a hole. Regarding illegal immigrants being described by "the media" as hardworking, and so forth, illegal immigration is supported by big greedy business, who love cheap labor, and politicians who love big business. Quit blaming the media.

Phxslums if the media isn't going to tell the truth about whats really going on here who is? A prime example of this is their use of the word undocumented workers. Why dont they call drug dealers undocumented pharmacists? Or prostitutes undocumented masseuses? The media is oviously part of the problem not part of the solution. You seldom hear anything negative about illegal aliens in the news. To hear the media tell it we all should just hug, love, and want to live next door to them. The truth however is illegal aliens commit a lot of crime in the valley. Crimes that should not occur because these people if we inforced out laws would not be here. Illegals use up resources from a system that most never paid into and never will. Instead the local media tells us feel good stories about how 19 year Maria Lopez (with 2 children by 2 different fathers) decided to get her G.E.D. Oviously at tax payer expense through some social program.
The only place you will see stories about illegals raping, kidnapping, and murdering people all over the valley is on programs like the first 48. I agree with you Phxslums that the media is not the cause of all of this, however they are doing their part to dupe the public into believing the Hard working family people with a rich rich heritage myth!!!

Thank you for your respectful reply. I do not wish to hijack this thread for my own rantings, so I will be brief.
I hate local Fox 10 and AZ3 for their stupidity, but the average American (I believe) is well aware that illegal immigrants are a large social drain in this country. They know this because they see it (like graffiti). Witness the public backlash against the recent immigration bill. I stand by my posting-this countries policy failures are greed driven by business, the politicians who take their money, and a few misguided liberals.
Respectfully yours, phxslums.
