Thank you for the video - a contribution I would like to make in addition to your fine message is a quote from Chris Laird's Financial Newsletter, The Prudent Squirrel. Those of us in L.A. may remember his dad, Jerry Laird, who was the business reporter for KNX 1070AM for many years ("....this is Jerry Laird reporting live from the Pacific Coast Stock Exchange in downtown L.A....").

Well, his son Chris has his own financial newsletter that I subscribe to and here is the latest (subscribers can quote up to 10% of the newsletter as long as we give credit to theprudentsquirrel.com). Here goes:

"* Liberty coin seizure

Liberty Coins sells and promotes their version of silver one ounce 'rounds' (silver bullion coins). They have promoted it as a way to use silver in purchases with merchants who are willing to accept the coins. They have been a bit controversial, as the US has been tracking and investigating what Liberty is doing. Liberty says what they do is perfectly legal.

A story just came out that, this week, the US seized all of Liberty coins' stock, and basically shut them down.

The ardent supporters of Rep. Ron Paul, the iconoclastic Texas libertarian whose campaign for the presidency is threatening to upend the battle for the Republican nomination, got word yesterday of a new source of outrage and motivation: reports of a federal raid on a company that was selling thousands of coins marked with the craggy visage of their hero.

Federal agents on Thursday raided the Evansville, Ind., headquarters of the National Organization for the Repeal of the Federal Reserve Act and Internal Revenue Code (Norfed), an organization of "sound money" advocates that for the past decade has been selling a private currency it calls "Liberty Dollars." The company says it has put into circulation more than $20 million in Liberty Dollars, coins and paper certificates it contends are backed by silver and gold stored in Idaho, are far more reliable than a U.S. dollar and are accepted for use by a nationwide underground economy.

Norfed officials said yesterday that the six-hour raid occurred just as its six employees were mailing out the first batch of 60,000 "Ron Paul Dollars," copper coins sold for $1 to honor the candidate, who is a longtime advocate of abolishing the Federal Reserve. The group says it has shipped out about 10,000 silver Ron Paul Dollars that sold for $20 and about 3,500 of the copper $1 coins. But it said the agents seized more than 50,000 of the copper coins -- more than two tons' worth -- plus smaller amounts of the silver coins and gold and platinum Ron Paul Dollars, which sell for $1,000 and $2,000.

"They took everything, all of the computers, everything but the desks and chairs," the company's founder and head, Bernard von NotHaus, said in a telephone interview from his home in Miami. "The federal government really is afraid." Von NotHaus changed the name of Norfed to Liberty Services earlier this year, but affidavits for government search warrants served yesterday continued to use the older name… "

All the best to each of you,

Frank, I see you have a Fred08 sign up banner on your front page.

I'd like to ask that you for the sake of your country, your children, and your wallet please just take a few minutes and read about Ron Paul...what you talked about in your video is VERBATIM what Ron Paul's message of freedom and smaller government is about. You will I guarantee, find that ROn Paul is the ONLY candidate that can save this country with the only PROVABLE 100% Constitutionally perfect voting record.

Brief Overview of Congressman Paul’s Record:

He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.

He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.

He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress.

Thanks Frank, and I hope you will take a minute to possibly change your mind about Fred Thompson a member of the CFR a one world organization bent on globalizing our country.

Video doesn't seem to be working...

Deb

Hey Mr.Sucks, with all due respect, the people that have destroyed America as we know it... who ignore the constitution and take away our civil liberties, who force the telecom companies to spy on Americans, who syphon off tax dollars to pay war-profiteering Halliburton and other crony businesses, who destroy the dollar in order to prop up their banking buddies, who sell off our ideals in the name of ticking time bomb torture... Dude, those are your boys Bush and Cheney. Last time I checked they were waiving the flag and carrying the "conservative" banner. You fear Hillary. Maybe you are right. I don't trust her as far as Bill could throw her. But it was not she or Bill or the Democrats that created the false patriotic policies of the wanna-be dictator GW Bush. The Democrats have no backbone. True. But the Republicans just all seem to be closeted bigots that salute the flag and steal your money. Let me say: I love that you want our country back. Great. I love that you want conservative taxing and spending and a little fiscal responsibility. But can you please stop parroting cheasy slogans? You make a poor Rush Limbaugh. Stop carrying water for these creeps. If you want change then Ron Paul or Obama are your guys. It has nothing to do with "liberal" or "conservative". "Tax and spend?" Could describe either party. "Take away your freedoms and dictate how you should live"- ditto. You have a brain. Use it. Rant over.

Frank Rumbauskas

Obama? OBAMA? That's Hillary in a man's body!!!

On the conservative thing, I never touted Bush or Cheney. Just because they wave the word "conservative" around doesn't mean they are. Geez, look at Bush's spending and his amnesty-shamnesty plan to let illegals stay.

Seriously, Obama? Wake up, pal.

war_shu_duck

OK there Deb I have to ask what "Freedoms" have you lost in the last 8 years and how have they affected your life? Personally I think Freedom is a farce always has been always will be. You can't lose what you never had! We are a nation of laws and as our population keeps getting dumber and dumber we create more laws to keep the unwashed masses from hurting themselves or others.

So besides being an articulated minority what makes Obama Presidential material? What ideas, policies, or experiences does he have that makes you believe he is up for the job?

Frank Rumbauskas

I really like Ron Paul and I want to support him but he scares me on defense, such as his stance on scrapping a missile defense program when wacko China and North Korea are building missiles that can reach our shores. Things like that bother me. Defense is expensive, yes, but necessary.

Mike in Scottsdale

I don't know if there have ever been such liberal dems up for the nomination. This country will take a huge hit of socialism if any of them get elected, especially now with all the illegals happily grabbing whatever handouts are available. I hope that Hillary does get the nod because I think she'll be defeated without much trouble. I think people overestimate her true voting group which is comprised mainly of scorned women and bush haters. Not thinking, rational people. Unfortunately the only real republican running is RP and he gets no coverage in the msm. The only thing that brought him notice was his recent money bomb. Rudy has a good shot but he's got to move further to the right on some things to seal the deal. I like what you are doing Frank and I don't think it could come at a better time ... if we don't start taking a stand now, what is this place going to be like 100 years, 200 years or 500 years from now??

jj

hello demublicans and republicrats,

You all have a lot of genius things to say, but none of you can count. This 'good 'ol' america of which you speak, the kind where people had values, etc. It was sold out long ago. You see these politicians care about one thing, getting elected. To get elected, you need to have the most votes. The best way to do that is to appeal to the largest groups. The largest groups are the ones that have flooded our country since the mid-60s, send their kids back to Asia or whatever to go to school, and bring their elderly over for free medical care. The illegal are a major part of the problem but not the only one. When youre done ranting and come to the conclusion that America needs to be taking care of itself, take a nice long drive around town and really look at who comprises America as it is today. Before the 60s we didnt have the Asian-American, Hispanic-American, Hispanic American Heritage Association, etc. look around you.

rant over.

Obama is a joke. He's a media creation, you dolts.

Hillary is the devil in a red dress.

Bush is good on some issues and bad on others.

Ron Paul is good on some issues and an outright kook on others. Yeah, communist, evil, totalitarian China really is a big, looming threat. And I wouldn't count out Al Qaeda terrorism, nukes, and even Mother Russia under comrade Putin.

I'm a traditional conservative/Republican but there doesn't seem to be anyone in sight that can really take the bull by the horns, a la Ronald Reagan.

"This" this is just too big, and it's everywhere, and it's taken us a long ass time to get here.

Scottsdale is just a symptom, although emblematic, of a systemic collapse in American values and our way of life.
Never underestimate the power of Big Boomer, and greed over a reasonable profit.

I know I'm generalizing now, but I can be very detailed also. The list is just too exhaustive, and I'm exhausted.

There is a friggen' economic freight train headed our way called reality and some serious sh*t is about to go down.

Batten down the hatches, stick and move, and keep kicking them in the ass.

And if you can, grab some popcorn and soda along the way and enjoy the show because you're basically watching a movie, aboard the Titanic, in which you are an unwitting actor.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot: and Scottsdale sucks (most of the time)!

Chris

Hello, I live in Prescott Valley a city roughly 100 mi north of Scottsdale. I stumbled on your site while searching for info related to photo radar tickets. I must say I like visiting this site, because most of what is said here is raw and real, I will admit I'm not much in to politics. I'm not even registered to vote, but I will change that, because it's tiring to bend over and get hammered in the A$$.

The video was good Frank. I keep noticing your hate for the photo radar. Since my run in with it I have been furious. I stay up searching the Arizona Legislative site hoping to find a loop hole, but it seems pretty cut and dry. They can fuck you, and you have to take it! In Prescott Valley photo radar zones are going up faster and faster. Then I heard on the news photo radar will be going State wide on State highways "That’s Great". Isn't speeding a Freedom? Well it used to be in Arizona. I would like that Freedom back! I want this photo radar out of this country it’s a bunch of BS and the only thing it does is piss people off and make are towns and cities looked cluttered and cheap. So I need advice on what I can do. How can I get involved, make a stand and try to debunk this stupid idea?

Looking for Advice,
Chris

Frank Rumbauskas

Chris,

The problem with photo radar is that the politicians just can't resist the free money it brings in.

My friend, state treasurer and former state senator Dean Martin, introduced numerous bills and fought hard in the senate to defeat photo radar, all to no avail because both the dems and republicans alike defeated all bills opposing photo radar, the one exception being the requirement to post signs at least 300 feet ahead of any photo installation - which, incidentally, Scottsdale is violating by placing the signs less than 300 feet.

I think it's ironic that I moved to a commie blue state, and yet I'm free from photo radar, because the CA state legislature banned private-run photo radar, and it was declared illegal in Orange County courts.

That just goes to show how much the lines between "red" and "blue" have been blurred. It used to be that red states were free states and blue states were police states. Nowadays, there is even less freedom in red states, which are increasingly twisting the idea of conservative values to flaunt a bunch of "tough on crime" rhetoric and use it to install police states.

The one thing people can start doing today to stop the abuse by Scottsdale is to just stop going there. Boycott Scottsdale businesses and avoid the city entirely. If you live there, move out, even if it's only going a mile or two to get out of the city limits.

If you get a photo ticket in the mail, shred it, deny all knowledge of it, and DO NOT answer the door for strangers. If they falsely claim to have served you with the ticket (and they do), pay the $35 to appeal to Superior Court who will throw it out.

The good news is that states are increasingly restricting photo radar. Many states like New Jersey have banned it outright, while other states like California have placed enough restrictions on it to create a de-facto ban. The photo radar companies are losing more and more money and won't last as a result. (In fact, the real reason Scottsdale moved their contracts to American Traffic Systems from Redflex is because Redflex is going broke and won't be around long ... but neither will American Traffic ... without big states like California they can't stay in business).

Fuck Scottsdale and fuck all the anti-freedom traitors. Fuck 'em all.

jj

Joe,

right on! your comments really resonate with me. What you say is truth brother! Economic freight train is right... and scottsdale is the ultimate symbol for what america has become. A bunch of idiots surrounded by illegal aliens and other unsavory types who think they are going to play golf while the whole world fights WWIII. Those people are the enemy. Scottsdale is bound to become the worlds worst place to live in 2 years.

as for you rundown of politicians... Hitlery sucks no doubt. Obama is TV show character. Paul is a bit on the wacky side but he believes in the limited power of the president, and I think if he stepped up to office and got a view from that seat, he would fill it well. Hes america's best chance.

Thought I would ask here since the thread is political -
but with the finance markets turned upside-down due to real estate, do you think that drilling for oil off the coasts of FL & CA may be OK? Or coal mining in UT? Or mining in the deserts of S.CA? Are these resources permanently off the table? Reason why I'm asking is we are facing the most dire financial crisis of our history and was wondering if actually selling some of our renewable resources may actually help here? Like lumber?

I asked this question on a forum largely populated by a certain demographic age group and the response was not good.

Frank,

I enjoyed the video and appreciated the fact that you came out from behind the curtains in order for us to put a face to the name. I am a regular reader and sometimes cannot wait to see what you post next. I love the direction your blog is and has been going. I used to live in Scottsdale for 18 years until I joined the military. My parents still live in North Scottsdale, but trust me, they are NOTHING like your typical "Scottsdaliens." They both hailed from NY since 1972 when they first moved to Scottsdale. I just recently moved from Glendale (Arrowhead Ranch) to North Phoenix near Cave Creek and I love it!
Now, I am not very much into politics simply because a lot of it bores me, and also because a lot of it confuses the hell out of me; however, I do perform my civic duties by voting, and I read as much information as possible. Now, my problem is that regarding the 2008 Election, I am at a total loss on who to vote for. I dont like ANY of the candidates, and furthermore, I dont know who's lying, and who's pure and good to run this country. Now, I grew up in a Republican household, but at this point, I dont even know where I stand as far of which party I'm swinging for. Could you please help me? Some advice about where I can read about politics, candidates, that are not totally biased and at least have some TRUTH!!!!! I want to be educated when it comes to our rights, liberties, and freedoms, and I will admit, I have been one of the sheep, but I'm trying to stray from the heard and learn, learn, learn. I dont voice my opinion very much on your site because I do not feel armed enough with knowledge to rant. Instead I just listen and absorb all that I can. I am a college student, and I'm getting educated in thsoe ways, but I dont think that my business college is arming me with the tools to understand political science. Would you lend me a hand?

Brandon

I don't see why everyone has to blame Scottsdale's demise on "Liberals". I am a Liberal, and I can clearly see that Scottsdale has become a shithole. It has nothing to do with a political agenda. I highly doubt that most of the $30,000 millionaire douche bags are Liberal too, so before we all go and try to scapegoat a political party, why don't we look at the bigger picture? Liberals and Conservatives alike can attest to Scottsdale's gluttony. I don't like being branded as a direct result of it.

Frank Rumbauskas

My experience in living in Scottsdale is that liberals and democrats far outnumbered conservatives and republicans. In the few commie HOA neighborhoods that allow signs, Gore signs outnumbered Bush in 2000, and Kerry outnumbered Bush in 2004. Most people I know in Scottsdale support liberal candidates and policies and let's face it, Scottsdale is democrat-controlled and even voted out highly praised JD Hayworth for a democrat.

I'm not looking to get into a pissing match here but there's no arguing that Scottsdale has become a liberal stronghold - just look around at the people there.

Having said that, a lot of Scottsdale demise is due to the so-called "neo cons", otherwise known as "liberals with spending money." These people vote republican to keep their taxes down but they are liberal/socialist/communist on all other issues.

Brandon

I think if you want to look for a liberal stronghold, look no farther than Irvine. I would argue that Irvine is FAR more Liberal than Scottsdale. Is Irvine not well-ran though? I think that couldn't be farther from the truth.

What this boils down to is not just politics, in my opinion, but far beyond that. I think blaming Liberals is a mistake...

Frank Rumbauskas

Irvine? Liberal? The only liberal areas you'll find in Orange County are Laguna Beach (hippies) and Santa Ana (illegals).

Irvine is over 70% asian immigrants and they're more conservative than even southerners. It is one of the rare cities in OC with a democrat mayor but she's well hated and has no chance of winning re-election, especially after she jumped on Bloomberg's anti-gun coalition. *That* was the wrong thing to do in this county.

Orange County was named "America's Most Republican County" based on the 2004 Presidential election results ... there are a lot of liberal places in America and they're not all bad but this certainly isn't one of them.

fastcart11

ROFL @ these comments. Man, haven't been to scottsdale in forever.

What 'ballers' indeed...

Mike

Frank, its not that Ron Paul is outright against war.. I don't mind the idea of bringing our military home to protect our boarders either.. what a "brilliant" idea that would be, right? Ron Paul if faced with extreme circumstances of the threat of war, would declare it, and win it! If our military is at home and organized rather than stretched too thin throughout the world we would destroy any country that even attempted such a thing. Afghanistan would have already been taken care of.. Has our current foreign policy worked yet? it didn't stop 9/11, our boarders are literally WIDE open.. Like Dr Paul says, "no country would even think about attacking us and if they did, we would wipe them off the map" And to everyone else around the world, we look every bit as "wacko".. Until Ron Paul, i didn't even know what the word CONSERVATIVE meant? and in your video, everything you were saying described Ron Paul... Hope you change your mind :)

PS I'm surprised at how many people on this site support Ron Paul... According to the media its just a handful of crazy spammers..

Frank Rumbauskas

Well, one example of what bugs me about Ron Paul is his opposition to a missile defense system.

Living two miles from the coastline, and knowing that China, North Korea, and others are building missiles that can reach my house, I have an issue with that.

I am a fiscal conservative, but I also know the difference between necessary spending and being "penny-wise and pound-foolish."

This isn't the only reason - it's just one example of how a mindset that military spending is a waste of money will put us all in a very vulnerable situation. I guess to me Ronald Reagan was the perfect example of a conservative who also knew the importance of investing in our defense.

Mike

OK. Hypothetical. China and or Korea launch an attack on the US tomorrow, next week, next month or even next year. Are we not more vulnerable now with our military spread out across the globe rather than home? also you want to spend the tax payers money on a missile defense system based on the "possibility" that china and or Korea will attack us, when we are already more than a trillion dollars in debt... we have the greatest military on earth and china and Korea both know this, one missile from them would result in thousands from us, given that we even have a military at home to do so. We can not afford this war PERIOD, we cant! our economic problems are the direct result of this. Isn't China loaning us the money for this war? maybe we wouldn't have to worry about being attacked if we weren't parading around the globe acting like the policemen of the world. Ron Paul loves this country and would do anything to protect it. I think that what is happening within our own country is more important than our foreign policy. Don't get me wrong, protecting ourselves is important as well. I only see one candidate that is going to restore our liberties and fix our economy. Do you agree with Fred on every issue? he seems better than the rest but i just don't see much fiscal change from any of them..

james

Lived in Phx., Az. from 1982 to 1991. Was a beutiful city when I first moved there in 1982. No smog, small traffic problems, little crime. Was living in area of Northern and 32cd Street when I left the State for good. This was during the big S&L collapse. HUD bought up plenty of real estate in this area because of the Savings and Loan collapse. They moved all the scumbags from south Phoenix to North Phoenix over night. Town homes in development I was living in sold for $42,000 when I moved there. HUD bought them for $19,000. The following day after HUD did their dirty deed I went to the community pool for a swim. The brotha's and their white women and a quarter inch of afrosheen were all floating on top the water. Needless to say , paradise had ended for this Caucasian male. Yes Scottsdale high and mighty you are next in line for a little government diversity. My next door neighbors with a 13 yr. old son, were to get there's. A mexican national stabbed husband and wife to death with a butcher knife. Fortunatly they had sent there son to call police while they went into there town house after seeing a broken door lock. He survived. My brand new truck was stoled next while I was in the process of moving back to Illinois.Never thought I was going to get out of their alive.
As far as Ron Paul goes, God bless him, but it is to late to change anything and I do not want him blamed when the whole house of cards falls. Let Hillary get the blame. She deserves it.

russell

Hillary would be the end of the American way of life? What way of life would that be? The one where white males run everything?

Nevertheless, I had to laugh. I can make sense of this statement by realizing how much people hate Bush. They have the same way of thinking.

As for me, I try to avoid hating. Even when it comes to a city like Scottsdale.
