I picked up "Stop Cold Calling Forever" after ordering "CC is a Waste of Time" and your follow-up book on selling (not received yet, but eagerly anticipated). The first chapter of Parinello's book says go to the library and spend at least eight hours profiling customers. He doesn't tell you how to do it, just do it. Your specific ideas, like flyers and faxing just seems so much more practical, but I'll use Stop... Forever for ideas to beef up my flyers and faxes.
